Tetris is turning 40 this year, and to celebrate, a new compilation of Tetris games called Tetris Forever has been released. This compilation, part of Digital Eclipse’s Gold Master series, not only brings together over 15 playable Tetris games, but also includes documentaries to provide cultural context around the games.
Some of the games featured in Tetris Forever include Tetris Battle Gaiden, Super Bombliss, an accurate recreation of the original Tetris on the Electronika 60 computer, and Hatris. The compilation will be available for Switch, PC, and other consoles.
In addition to Tetris Forever, it was announced that the NES version of Tetris will be coming to Nintendo Switch Online. The NES version of Tetris has a tumultuous history, having been released by Atari’s Tengen label without a proper license before Nintendo released their own version.
Excitingly, Tetris fans can look forward to playing Tetris Forever and the NES version on Nintendo Switch Online.
