In 2021, the Famicom Detective Club games were brought back to life for the Switch after being forgotten since their original release on the Famicom Disk System in Japan from 1988 to 1989.
The success of the Switch release was evident, leading to the upcoming launch of the first new installment in the series in 27 years on August 29, 2024. A demo of the game, Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club, is now available for download on the Nintendo eShop.
