Montezuma’s Revenge Continues to Seek Revenge in 40th Anniversary Edition of Retro Faith
In 1984, the classic game Montezuma’s Revenge was originally released on 8-bit computers and the Atari 2600 console. Now, 40 years later, indie publishers Eastasiasoft are celebrating the game’s anniversary with a special edition that includes a 2.5D remake and an expanded director’s cut. The game will be available on Steam later this year, and is also in development for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox, with a planned release in 2025.
Created by Robert Jaeger, Montezuma’s Revenge – The 40th Anniversary Edition features 100 rooms, new 2.5D visuals, and a special Director’s Cut version of the original pixel game. Limited physical editions for Nintendo Switch are available for pre-order starting October 10th exclusively through Playasia, with only 2000 limited editions being produced. The Limited Edition will include the game on a Nintendo Switch card, manual, soundtrack CD, and numbered certificate, as well as the PC version of the Director’s Cut on a custom key-shaped USB drive all packaged in a collector’s box with new artwork. Standard copies will also be available for pre-order.
