Indie Retro News: Aster - Multiscreen platformer thought lost is recovered for the Commodore Plus/4

Old retro games that have been lost through the years and have been uncovered are always a delight for the retro community. The release of the Plus/4 game ‘Aster’ by BSZ and Cody is a special treat for the Commodore Plus/4 community. This multiscreen platform game features graphics from The Sacred Armour Of Antiriad for the sprites and from First Samurai for the background elements!

The Plus/4 World website describes ‘Aster’ as a game from ’93, created by KiCHY. Although references to it are scarce, the game was rediscovered by BSZ on old disks, making it a “new release” for most sceners.

The game challenges players to guide their hero through 5 levels in a fantasy world to defeat the destroyer of the galaxy. The game features graphics converted from C64 and music from the same platform. While the controls may be difficult and the in-game text could use some proofreading, ‘Aster’ is a valuable addition to the collection.
