Indie Retro News: Goodbye Monty

Indie Retro News: Auf Wiedersehen Monty

The first Monty Mole game was released by Gremlin Graphics in the 1980s for the ZX Spectrum and C64. This game featured a character that resembled a mix between a human and a mole. The series continued with popular sequels like Monty on the Run and Auf Wiedersehen Monty. Now, Retronics is bringing this classic game to the Atari XL/XE with an improved game engine.

“Auf Widersehen Monty” is a chamber game similar to Jet Set Willy, originally released in 1987 for various 8-bit computers, excluding the Atari XL/XE. The Atari version is a reverse-engineered adaptation of the C-16, offering an enhanced game engine and high-resolution text mode with 32 columns. The game includes colorful chambers, sprites, and music from both the C-64 and C-16 versions.

Currently, the game is only accessible to those purchasing support tickets for the Silly Venture compo, but hopefully, it will be available as a digital download soon.
