Gremlin Graphics released the first Monty Mole game in the 1980s for the ZX Spectrum and C64. The character starred in “Wanted: Monty Mole” and spawned sequels like “Monty on the Run” and “Auf Wiedersehen Monty”. Retronics has now released an improved game engine version of the game for the Atari XL/XE!
“Auf Wiedersehen Monty” is a chamber game similar to Jet Set Willy, originally released in 1987 for various 8-bit computers. The Atari version is a reverse-engineered adaptation of the C-16 with improved graphics and gameplay elements. The game features colorful graphics, unique in this mode, and about 20 chambers with individually colored environments. The music from the C-64 and C-16 versions is included in the Atari XL/XE version.
The Atari XL/XE version of “Auf Wiedersehen Monty” features colored pistons, coins, and animated sprites. Each chamber represents a different country and contains up to 5 objects. The game offers unique gameplay elements compared to “Monty on the Run” and works in high-resolution text mode with 32 columns. Download link available for Atari XL/XE users!
