We’ve been recently informed by Andrew of Yolkfolk.com about an improved Dizzy game for the ZX Spectrum called ‘Magicland Dizzy’. According to YolkFolk, “Dr. Titus has released a Classic Edition of Magicland Dizzy for the Spectrum, which includes various tweaks, major bug fixes, added music track, and an Easter egg.” To go along with this news, we have more information about the changes and some extra screenshots.


Dizzy games are highly popular on Indie Retro News, being some of the greatest retro games for various systems. Each game told a unique story about the little egg named Dizzy and his yolk folk friends, creating a game series loved by millions, thanks to The Oliver Twins. Here are the latest improvements and fixes for the Classic Edition of Magicland Dizzy.

  • Improved location render procedure for faster performance.
  • Added two levels of attribute brightness and support for hidden surfaces in the engine.
  • Redrawn tree details to avoid artifacts and clash, along with other graphic improvements.
  • Added a fire animation from Dizzy 6.
  • Fixed issues with dropping items at bottom of the screen and breaking ceilings.
  • Fixed collision with dangerous objects when changing locations.
  • Optimized rendering for specific locations like the swamp ghosts.
  • Fixed animations for various sequences.
  • Added alternative AY music with track selection option.
  • Game translated into Russian.
