But why is this classic game mentioned on Indie Retro News once again? Well, if you own an MSX, you can now download the latest release of Doomlings by Totta. This game isn’t about saving Lemmings like the original, but rather about killing as many as possible on each level.

According to the MSXdev competition page, “In Doomlings, your goal is to get a specific number of these mindless creatures killed. While Lemmings would walk into danger without a second thought, Doomlings will try to survive and reach the exit… because it would be too easy otherwise. Throughout the levels, you must ensure that the required number of Doomlings are killed. Like Lemmings, you have various tools at your disposal which change with each level. Use these tools to interact with the environment and ensure these doomed souls meet their end.”
“This action puzzle game will test your quick thinking and dark instincts as levels become more complex and your toolbox expands. While the Doomlings seek safety, it’s your job to prevent them from reaching it.”
